GROWING AT GARDD DELYN

At Gardd Delyn Flowers our aim is to grow beautiful blooms as sustainably as possible. We want to nuture our incredible surroundings so we work in ways that are good for the flowers and the environment. We are always working to improve our growing practices, often trying completely new or very traditional ideas.
We minimise waste wherever possible and ensure everything we use is repurposed or recycled where we can, for instance our packaging is completely compostable, and we compost everything we can to put goodness back into our soil.
We use local materials to feed the microbes in our soil and disturb them as little as possible, using the 'no dig' method so that they feed our plant babies. We use local materials such as sheep's fleece from neighbouring farms which would otherwise go to waste. This helps gives nutrients, gets rid of the need for plastic weed membranes or any chemical sprays and conserves moisture in the soil, reducing the need for watering. Win win!
MEET THE GROWERS
Mother and daughter team Mary and Jess have always dreamt of growing masses of flowers sustainably. They now grow on a patch of land in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside.
JESS
Former Geography Teacher and sustainability geek, Jess loves making sure our flowers enhance our beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside. When she isn't trying to improve soil health she loves creating with flowers.

MARY
A lifelong grower, you can find Mary with her hands in the soil. She loves nothing more than nurturing tiny seedlings into beautiful plants with masses of blooms and sending them off for you to enjoy.
